Following the success of our campaign in 2024, where with your help we successfully raised £2,500 (which BigGive matched to make £5,000), we've partnered with them again to double our impact!
From 22nd April to 29th April 2025, any donation made to Eco Brixs will be doubled by BigGive. For example, if someone kindly donates £25, BigGive will match it, turning it into a £50 donation.
We’re dedicating this year’s campaign to expanding Eco Brixs’ model to Western Uganda, which includes districts such as Fort Portal and Kable. This region currently has insufficient plastic recycling facilities, which leads to plastic waste being burnt or left in unsafe, overflowing landfill sites.
Donations will help us to establish 20 Recycling Hubs across Western Uganda. These are simple locations where people can bring plastic, have it weighed and be paid. Typically, they are placed in markets, villages and town centres - anywhere with high footfall so they are accessible and convenient for lots of people to use.
Collectively, these sites will empower the communities of Western Uganda to clean up and recycle 35 tonnes of plastic a month, whilst creating work for 500 marginalised people.
We’re aiming to raise £5,000 (which BigGive will turn into £10,000) to fund this much needed programme. We hope we can count on your support - even the smallest donation goes a long way in Uganda!
We’ll share the donation link when the page goes live on Tuesday 22nd April at midday (UK time). In the meantime, you can see Eco Brixs' work in action and the type of change we want to bring to Western Uganda 📹
CLEAN COOKING: UGANDAN STYLE 🥘🔁

In Uganda, we have long embraced the practice of cooking and wrapping our food in banana leaves, a tradition that not only enhances flavor but also supports a healthier planet. Unlike plastic packaging or aluminum foil, banana leaves are biodegradable, renewable, and completely waste-free.
At Eco Brixs, we uphold this eco-friendly practice, demonstrating how traditional methods can align with modern sustainability goals. Clean cooking is essential in the fight against climate change and plastic pollution. Many communities worldwide still rely on plastic-wrapped foods and fossil fuel-based cooking methods, contributing to harmful emissions and non-biodegradable waste.
By adopting natural and sustainable cooking alternatives, we can reduce plastic waste, lower carbon footprints, and protect the environment for future generations - by simply adjusting our habits in the kitchen!
